Where the Buffalo Roam
I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’ve never given much thought to the comfort level and foot support for today’s American Bison.
As the story goes, UBB was looking for a pair of socks that were warm enough for a hike on the coldest days of winter but comfortable enough to wear to work. On top of that, they also wanted socks with a timeless look that were made in America. Mission accomplished.
The answer ended up being the American Bison. Their inner coat is made up of a short, soft fiber that is warmer than wool and softer than cashmere. Blended with a combination of US Merino wool, spandex, and nylon, the result is a classic and comfortable sock that will keep your feet warm and dry all winter long.
It should be mentioned that while the American Bison was on the verge of extinction in the late 1800s, protection by legislation, conservationists, and breeding programs of privatized ranchers has the Bison population now near 500,000 and they are no longer an endangered or threatened species. This is all great news for our footsies.
What’s more, UBB is all about giving back. For every product that they sell, they remove one pound of trash from our nation’s oceans and waterways through company organized and hosted cleanups (116 cleanups and 203,510 lbs of trash and counting).
Their Kickstarter campaign has already been so successful that they reached their goal within the first 36 hours. This means all their Early Backer socks were snapped up within hours. However, due to popular demand, UBB has added several new reward levels that will still allow you to give the gift of The Ultimate American Sock this holiday season.
Don’t be surprised if eight reindeer and jolly St. Nick aren’t sporting this newfound discovery as well.
