Romance in the Rockies
When Lee and Travis first met, it was on their way to the top – only then, it was on a dormitory elevator while they were studying at Harvard University’s MBA program. Fast forward two years and they were ascending another summit, only this time on foot in picturesque Steamboat Springs. Travis, a former Olympic Skier and silver medalist, woke Lee up on a beautiful July morning with plans to go for a big hike up Emerald Mountain, where they were spending the weekend at his family’s house. But Lee became resistant halfway up the mountain. Hot and hungry she wanted to turn around, but Travis insisted that they complete the hike. Lee begrudgingly continued, but Travis became turned around while on the trail, only adding to her general crankiness. Much to Lee’s surprise and delight, Travis proposed at the summit, replete with champagne and glasses that he had secretly carried up the mountain.
Because Steamboat Springs was very close to the couple’s heart (Travis had moved there during high school for Olympic training) as well as the site of their engagement, they could think of no better place to host their nuptials than the stunning Catamount Ranch. Nearly 160 of Lee and Travis’ closest friends and family visited form the east coast for a celebration that combined the mountain landscape with modern glamour. The couple blended a rustic barn backdrop with ghost chairs, neutral yet lavish florals, a jawdropping tent and live music into the evening. Afterwards, they honeymooned in Africa before hitting the beaches of Zanzibar.
