Dolls for Daughters

In 2007, Jessica Bachus’ baby girl Kenzi was stillborn at 24 weeks.  Overcome with grief, Jessica felt compelled to channel her emotions into something that would honor Kenzi’s memory. Her idea? To give dolls to young girls at Christmastime who would otherwise go without. That year, Jessica collected over 150 dolls. Since then, Dolls for Daughters has come a long way. In 2008, over 500 dolls were given. In 2009, 1,100 and last year, Dolls for Daughters was able to give more than 4,000 dolls and toys away with the addition of a new program – Toys for Boys. Last year also saw the launch of Kenzi’s Kidz – a program that helps relieve the financial burdens of low-income families.Denverites can help by donating their time to the annual Dolls for Daughters Toy Shop in December, by donating toys and dolls throughout the year, or be becoming an official Dolls for Daughters donation drop off sites.
