Reign Magazine’s Staff Gift Picks: Betsy Marr
‘Tis the season to find that perfect little something for our loved ones. At Reign Magazine, we’re constantly surrounded by style, trends, design and innovations. In fact, you may even call us aficionados. And so this year, our staff is sharing its holiday gift picks for everyone on our list. First up, editor and publisher Betsy Marr.1. For my husband: J. Crew Montague Distressed Leather Satchel, $300
My husband Kevin is Reign’s associate publisher and is constantly on the go meeting with clients, magazines in tow. This bag is a modern interpretation of the traditional briefcase and is weathered and rugged enough to be “manly” while still looking polished and professional.
2. For my mom: Tiffany “T” Sterling Silver Bracelet, $950
I love Tiffany’s new T collection. This bracelet is a piece that can be worn every day. Equal parts classic and contemporary, it reminds me of my mother.
3. For the hostess: Lettermade Sassy Camel Cocktail Napkins, $42
I’m admittedly obsessed with everything on Lettermade’s site. Amazing hand embroidered textiles at very reasonable prices for the quality. I wish a Colorado retailer would pick them up – I’d singlehandedly keep them in business. Until then, I shop online at this cute little gem.
4. For my brother: The Gentleman’s Guide to Cocktails, $75 + Breckenridge Bourbon, $37
Every man should know the difference between whiskey and scotch, and whether he prefers his up or neat. This is a fun book that my little brother will love, and Breck Bourbon is always a fantastic, locally-made bet.
5. For my clients: Monogrammed Leather Measuring Tape, $45
It’s no secret that I am into monograms – they take everyday items and make them so special. A leather measuring tape is something that always comes in handy, but no one would think to buy for themselves. Love these colorful ones from Mark & Graham, another online favorite.
6. For my gal pal: Gray Malin Aqua Glam Framed Print, $249
Art is something that too many of us overlook when it comes to gift giving, and I am absolutely smitten with photographer Gray Malin’s work. It’s whimsical, fun and fabulous, just like the friend who I plan to gift it to.
7. For my dad: Monogrammed Copper Mugs, $30 each
These traditional Moscow Mule mugs are a great, unexpected gift for the person who is impossible to buy for – like my father. The monogram gives it an extra touch and the optional copper tray is a definite must.
8. For my dog: Mackenzie Childs “Ridiculous” Pet Bench, $2,975
The name says it all. Totally ridiculous but I love it. Sadly, I am guessing my sweet little Minnie would want absolutely nothing to do with it, but a girl can dream.
9. For my sister: Old Navy Plaid Smoking Slippers, $18
My sister and I are polar opposites. I define preppy and she is as hipster as they come. Somehow, these smoking slippers speak to both style sensibilities. Love them. A steal of a deal.
10. For my grandmother: Tory Burch Soaps, $48
I cannot get over how gorgeous the packaging is on these soaps, but then again, everything TB does is pretty much flawless. My grandmother, at 89-years young, is still the hostess with the mostess and I know she’d appreciate these beauties.
11. For my manicurist: Kate Spade Polka Dot Key Fob, $48
Just a little something to say thank you to the woman who keeps me polished – literally. Polka dots make everyone smile and this key fob does the job nicely.
12. For my sisters-in-law: Monogrammed Weekender Bag, $119
My two sisters-in-law are always on the go – one as a busy working mom of two and one as a professional go getter with a wanderlust spirit. This duffel is modern and colorful and befitting both of their lifestyles. And of course, the monogram makes ALL the difference.
13. For my niece: Juniper Books Puffin Classics, $110
I was over the moon when I learned that one of my favorite companies, Juniper Books, was based right here in Colorado! I love, love, love their artistic take on bindery that makes reading an elevated art. This set of classics includes many of my childhood favorites – The Secret Garden and Anne of Green Gables among them – and I cannot wait for my darling niece to read them someday.
14. For my nephew: Burberry Cardigan, $110
What’s more adorable than a baby boy in Burberry? Nothing – that’s what. This pullover will most likely fit him for mere minutes and doesn’t fall into the “practical” category, but that’s what aunts are for.
15. For me, from me: Hermes Avalon Blanket, $1,500
Okay, so it’s not necessarily a “gift” but I truly get weak at the sight of an orange H and this blanket is so chic, classic, amazing, fabulous….essentially, it’s EVERYTHING. For me, a little (or big) orange box is the only thing that trumps a little blue box.
