Born to Be Wild

One of the most famous vehicles in movie history, Peter Fonda’s motorcycle from Easy Rider, will go up for auction this month and it’s expected to fetch a small fortune. The Profiles in History auction house told the Associated Press it “estimates the Harley-Davidson will bring $1 million to $1.2 million at its October 18th sale being held online and at its galleries in Calabasas, California.”

What makes this opportunity for one wealthy buyer even more rare is that the motorcycle is the only one documented from the film. While four of the bikes were made specifically for the movie, three were stolen before the movie filming was even finished and have never been recovered. The prized cycle comes with three letters of authenticity including those from Fonda and the National Motorcycle Museum.
