Art of Gold
Summer in Colorado means several things –hikes in the high country, the annual Cherry Creek North Sidewalk Sale, ice cream cones at Bonnie Brae and hot summer evenings at the baseball stadium. Yet one of our favorite Colorado summer traditions is the plethora of arts festivals that grace our sweet state. This weekend, one of the most lauded and unique hits the circuit. The Golden Fine Arts Festival boasts 130 artists representing eighteen states. More than eighty are Colorado-bred and mediums range from painting to sculpture and glass to jewelry. The festival, which takes place in charming downtown Golden, spans two days and features free horse-drawn carriage rides through the streets, live music and artist demonstrations. For younger art lovers, be sure to check out the ArtReach Kids Art Zone. Fashionistas won’t want to miss the wearable art at Baby Doe’s and festival-goers must check out featured artist Jesse Crock, whose gorgeous painting is artfully depicted on festival posters. Admission is complimentary, and with nine venues to check out, promises plenty of artful entertainment.
